Sailing Academy Theewater

We hold our hobie sailing lessons at the family friendly Theewater Sports Club, where we have a training room and bunk house at our disposal on the shore of the Theewaterskloof Dam.  The Academy provides safety boats, life jackets, sailing dinghies, Instructors, accommodation in two rooms with double bunks.

Our focus is on safety and having fun, both on and off the water.  We teach on Hobie 16's, which allows us to get most of our students sailing the boat without assistance in light to moderate breeze by the end of the weekend, but can also provide the thrill of powering along in the breeze.

We are both World Sailing and South African Sailing accredited as are all of our Instructors and we adhere to the various safety regulations imposed upon us by these bodies, we are also COVID 19 compliant.

What Do I Need to Bring to My Sailing Lesson

A wetsuit or water/wind proof jacket, a change of clothes apropriate to the time of year & weather conditions and something warm for the evenings.  If you're overnighting you'll need a sleepingbag & pillow.

What Is the Minimum Age for Sailing Courses?

It is more about maturity than age.  On our Youth weekends, as a guide we accept kids from 9 years old, while on our Family weekend there is no minimum age age children are under their parents or siblings care.
